1. Initial Meeting

I spend time in your space and with you which forms the discussion of your wants, preferences and hopes for your garden. as well as your thoughts on a budget. Its an opportunity to ask questions, discuss my portfolio of work and for me to explain in broad terms how I can help bring your garden to reality. Services provided for your specific project and fees are confirmed in writing prior to commencing work.
2. Consultation

You, the client, are pivotal in the information I gather to form the basis of your design.
At this meeting I use inspiring source images to discuss the styles and forms that speak to you. I will ask lots of question to gain a deep understanding of your hopes and dreams for your garden. We will discuss practical requirements for the plot and how the budget will form the basis of what is possible. I will then produce a written design brief. This is a summary of the discussion and all the elements required in the garden. It will outline an appreciation of the site including aspect and levels. Additionally, it describes the design style to be used. This is supported by a mood board, giving the visual flavour, colours and inspiration for the design. Following discussions, revisions can be made to the brief and mood board to best reflect the final design.
3. Site Analysis &Survey

Once you are happy to proceed the site survey can be undertaken. It will be measured in detail and analysed. Including soil, topography, existing features, orientation and unique characteristics. This will record the space as accurately as possible. Typically, this is completed by me. For large or complex projects a professional landscape surveyor is instructed.
4. Outline proposals & Design Concepts

I will create sketch concept design options for your garden. Included will be 3D interpretation visuals to bring possible design ideas to life. This will gives you ideas to explore which can be discussed together. Landscaping materials and planting options will also be outlined.
5. Presentation of Design Plans & Associated Drawings

Once the scheme has been approved a scale masterplan is an essential outcome of the design process. This package of drawings sets out the layout, proportions, main structural features, heights and levels in addition to the all important areas to be planted. An original colour rendered scale presentation drawing is included.
6. Planting Plans

The location, Latin names and quantities of all the plants required in the borders are detailed on the planting plan. The number of plans required depends on the complexity of the project. A written itemised plant list is included.
7. Construction &Planting

If you wish I can work with you to identify experienced landscape contractors to quote to complete the project. Alternatively, I am happy to work with your own trusted tradespeople and craftworkers. For planting I typically source the plants and carry out the planting myself. This ensures the plants are of the correct quality, specification and are planted to give them the best start in your new garden.
8. Monitoring the Build

A popular service I offer with separate fee structure involves liaising with relevant contractors on your behalf. I will make regular site visits during the construction phase. This is to ensure the integrity of the design is maintained with works completed on schedule and as specified.
